Deal Reached with Saints, Legislature Must Still Approve
The Saints and the state announce an agreement that keeps the N-F-L
franchise in Louisiana through 2025. The deal would significantly
lower annual inducements the state gives to the team, but Governor
Jindal says he'll ask lawmakers to spend 85-million dollars in state
surplus money on renovations to the Superdome.
But several lawmakers we spoke with today are not in support of this
deal. New Orleans Representative Juan LaFonta says he can't vote to
use taxpayer money this way. Lawmakers will be asked to approve the 85-million dollars during the
on-going legislative session.
